I just thought I would let you know. In the game between Newcastle and Sydney City at the Newcastle International Sports Centre on August 29, 1999.
-That Sydney City Lead 12-10 at Halftime.
-Sorry to point this out. I notice that you have Newcastle Winning 5 Scrums in that game.
-Newcastle actually Won 8 Scrums in that game. Not 5.
-Also for Newcastle. you have Owen Craigie Wearing No. 1. Steve Simpson Wearing No. 16. Troy Fletcher Wearing No. 17.
-While for Sydney City. You have Graham Appo Wearing No. 1.
-Craigie Wore No. 17. When he played Fulback for Newcastle in that game.
-Simpson Wore No. 19. Fletcher Wore No. 20. When they both came off the Bench for Newcastle in that game.
-Appo Wore No. 18. When he played Fulback for Sydney City in that game as well.

Thanks Paul, scrums were actually 7 - 3 in favour of Newcastle.

Note that alot of the scrum & penalty counts from the late 90's are wrong they were downloaded from the AFLtables website in the early days of RLP and they are mostly wrong I am aware of the errors in the scrums & penalties during those years and it's on my to do list.

In regards to this game. I actually watched the whole game on YouTube yesterday. Which was uploaded by Coop's Footy Vids under the title May 5, 2024.
-I took a tally on the Scrums. Because I noticed how the Scrums in the Rugby League 2000 Yearbook differed to what was listed at Rugby League Project. It was listed as 7-3 Newcastle's way.
-From taking a count. I found that the Number of Scrums that Sydney City were listed as Winning at Rugby League Project. To be correct. Yet found that the Number of Scrums Newcastle Won in this game. Different to what was listed at Rugby League Project and the Rugby League 2000 Yearbook.
-Personally I have my doubts. As to whether a lot of Scrums and Penalties for most games are correct. Going back to 1908.

I agree there are often variations in different publications when referring to scrum & penalty counts you never know what is correct but as long as you get an indication as to which side was won the count close enough is probably good enough.

For this game Big League and the Yearbook both have the scrum count as 7-3 so I'm happy to stick to that.
