I have a 2min clip of this game.

From the footage.

Penrith's Rod Elliott wore no.27 not 21.

The forwards were numbered

8 - Raper

27 - Elliott

10 - Harvey

11 - Broad

12 - Workman

13 - Johnstone

the backs were numbered 1-7. These numbers are all seen in the footage.

What is interesting though is a Penrith reserve is on in no.15. By the look of him I believe this player

to be former experienced Balmain player now with the Panthers Bob Mara. Gillon the 5/8 broke his ribs in

this game.

In their next game Penrith left Mara in the team. Gillon did not play for a few weeks after.

Norths did have no.7 playing and no number 20.

From SMH and RL News reports Williams played 5/8 and Fairns half. Toohey wore no.3 in the centre.

They kept this pairing for their next game v Manly.

Thanks.

Bob Mara was listed in jersey 15 in reserve grade so that fits if he came on to replace Ern Gillon I have now updated the Penrith team to reflect this.

For Norths both Williams & Fairns are listed in jersey 7 in RLN and Fairns is also listed in jersey 20 in reserve grade which is why I allocated him jersey 20 but if Toohey wore 3 the most likely Williams wore 6 & Fairns 7.

Agree, I think you are correct.

The footage shows a little number 6 scoring beside the posts...this would be Williams' try.

In the background a taller number 3 is supporting which would be Toohey.

They held their positions and numbers for the next game v Manly which is on youtube for a cross reference.
