I've found there are quite a few errors on the old thebulldogs website, including the first names of some players (with that said, there is also some good information on there). I suspect there are more Canterbury players of this era who have been misnamed.

- Fred Brighten should be Fred Brighton. He was born in 1913 in Mildura, Victoria, and died on 30 September 1981. His full name was Frederick Murray Brighton.
- Charlie Cant should be Clyde Cant (see 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6). He was born 23 February 1907 in Gundary, near Goulburn, NSW, and died on 23 March 1957. His full name was Arthur Cyril Clyde Cant.
- Tom Carey was born 20 January 1912 in Prescot, England, and died on 20 June 1992. His full name was Thomas Sylvester Carey.
- Harry Courtney was born 11 October 1908 in Canterbury, NSW, and died on 6 December 1936. His full name was Harold William Herbert Courtney.
- Vince Dwyer should be Vic Dwyer (7). He was born 5 April 1909 in Murrurundi, NSW, and died on 7 April 1968. His full name was Victor Bede Dwyer.

- Harry Hall was born in Penrith, NSW. He died in 2003. His full name was Harry Dalton Hall.
- Bill Joass was born 5 July 1909 in Lakemba, NSW. He was the son of Wests' William Joass and nephew of Alf Joass (William and Alf were brothers).
- Roy McCallum's date of death should be 15 November 1979.
- Jack McConnell was born 27 March 1910 in Redfern, NSW, and died on 7 November 1985. His full name was John James McConnell.
- Malcolm McPhillips should be Mick McPhillips (8, 9, 10, 11). I couldn't find a Malcolm or a Michael McPhillips that fits the bill, so I suspect 'Mick' might be a non sequitur from his real name, like Harry 'Mick' Kadwell. Mick's nickname appears to have been Midget (12), which seems consistent with source [10] calling him 'diminutive'.

- Jack Morrison's DOB should be 26 July 1905 in Murwillumbah, NSW. His full name was John Harold McKay Morrison.
- Barry Neville should be Bert Neville (13, 14, 15). He was born 7 November 1912 in Ipswich, Qld, and died on 27 October 1992. His full name was Albert Tighe Neville. He passed the referee's examination in 1941 (16).
- Joe Sharp was born in Murrurundi, NSW. His full name was Evley Joseph Sharp. He was married to his wife Violet for 77 years and 256 days until his death. She died in 2008, aged 101.
-- The 3 Balmain (1933) games attributed to Joe appear to have been a different person, who was listed as L Sharp (17), S Sharpe (18), or S Sharp (19). This player joined Balmain from Easts (20), and it appears we have him as S Sharp on the site.

- Alan Wellington should be Alfred Wellington (21). He was born 1912 in Brunswick (Melbourne), Victoria, and died on 11 April 1993. His full name was Alfred Francis Wellington.
-- I'm not sure that the nickname Duke is correct for Alfred. There is an A. Wellington playing five-eighth for Leeton in September 1940 (22), and this player is referred to as "Duke" Wellington in July 1941 (23). I can't find any evidence that Alfred Wellington, who played for Canterbury and Newtown as a forward, was the five-eighth at Leeton.

Thanks Max well researched as always these have now been updated.

I have given the 3 games for Balmain in 1933 to S Sharp and removed Alfred Wellington's nickname Duke it would be highly unlikely there are 2 A Wellington's nicknamed Duke and Alfred was still playing lower grades with Newtown in 1941 so couldn't be playing in Leeton.

The Wellington from Leeton was sometimes referred to as being A.Wellington and J.Wellington and is definitely not the same as the Sydney player.

In relation to Clyde Cant and Bert Neville, do you have any sources confirming their nicknames were Charlie and Barry, respectively? Otherwise, I tend to think they are errors. I'm not sure why this happened for so many Canterbury players, but it's making it harder to find the correct details.

- Ted Anderson is the same person as Newcastle's E Anderson. Born 11 March 1917 in Maitland NSW, died 8 January 1992. Full name Edwin Albert William Anderson, and nickname was Bear.
- Lloyd Atkins, born 27 July 1915 in Guyra NSW, died 3 May 1994. Full name Lloyd Francis Atkins.
- Jim Duncombe, born 23 December 1906 in Lismore NSW, died 7 October 1996. Full name James Thomas Duncombe.
- Roy Gilchrist, born 14 August 1913 in Tumut NSW, died 3 January 1970. Full name Roy Alexander Gilchrist.
- Tom Kirk, DOB should 15 October 1915 (instead of November 1916). Full name Albert Samuel Kirk.
- Aub Mitchell, born 9 August 1915 in Canbelego, near Cobar NSW, died 3 May 1983. Full name John Aubrey Mitchell.
- Roy McCarter, born 5 September 1914 in Newcastle NSW, died 1999. Full name Roy John McCarter.
- There seems to be one use of the name Jim Pratt, but it might be an error (it's in the advertising column of a non-Sydney newspaper, which is an interesting source if it is correct). This player is otherwise known as Jack Pratt. Born 20 December 1915 in Sydney NSW, died 20 July 1972. Full name John Stanley Pratt. His nickname was Bluey.
- Geoffrey Robinson, born 13 June 1910 in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, England. Full name Geoffrey William Robinson.
- Ossie Samuels is referred to mostly as Samuels in newspapers, and sometimes as Samuel. Samuel is the correct surname. Born 15 August 1917 in Waverley NSW, died 12 May 2004. Full name Oswald Joseph Samuel.

I can't find anything as to why Clyde Cant would be called Charlie same with Bert Neville so I have removed both nicknames also Jack Pratt no idea why he has the name Jim so I fixed as well.

All others updated as well.
