Johnny Greaves did not play in this game due to injury with Bernie Lowther starting the game in his place and Nev Hornery was captain. Geoff Connell replaced Mick Trypass after 8 minutes due to a calf injury with Henry Tatana also taking the field in the 2nd half.

For Wests George Skeers replaced John Walker late in the 2nd half just before scoring his try in the final 5 minutes.
