Chris Phelan

& Pat Phelan

were brothers.

Pat died in a boating incident in 1978 or 1979 depending on the source. It was in the off-season.

The Souths Magpies award for the player of the year is the Pat Phelan Memorial club player of the year.

Sorry to point this out. I notice for the game between Cronulla and Newtown at Endeavour Field on July 3, 1983.
-That you have Glen Mortimer Wearing No. 14.
-Mortimer Wore No. 20. When he came off the Bench for Cronulla in that game.

Feedback/Suggestions / Round 20 Easts V Penrith
Last post by Ted Baxter - 18 April, 2026, 12:54:54 AM
https://www.rugbyleagueproject.org/seasons/nswrfl-1983/round-20/eastern-suburbs-1968-vs-penrith-panthers/summary.html

25. for Penrith is Pobjie as we can see him scoring a try, whilst other replacements for Penrith wear 16 & 17.

Easts had replacements wearing 26. (I think Garland) & 27.
